Factor affecting per capita demand:-

1.  Size of the City:-  In the big cities the water demand is large compared to as small town. This is because in the big cities sewerage system is adopted for which more water is required and also in big cities developed in huge quantity which also required large amount of water.
2.  Climatic Condition:- In hotter and dry place the consumption of water is generally more compared to cooler and wet.
3.  Habits of People:- Rich and upper class people generally consume more water due to their higher living standard, middle class family consume very low amount.

Industrial & Commercial:- As industries develop, more water is required due to industrial demand. Many industries required huge amount of water than domestic purpose.

5.    Quality Of Water Supplies:- If the supplied water testy and pure then people normally people consume more water. Because in such situation other sources like hand pump, well, etc. Are not used by people.
6.    Pressure Distribution System:- If the pressure in distribution pipes are more than water will easily reach up to 3rd storey or 4th storey. In this case people of upper storeys will get water freely. Also losses will more.
7.    Development of Sewage Facility:- Water consumption will be more if ‘Flush System’ and will be less if ‘ Old Conservation ‘.

8.    System of Supply:- Water can be supplied continuously or intermitting. In the case of continuous supply people generally open the taps during non supply period so losses would occur. In the case of intermittent supply people tensile to store more water would be lost if unused.

9.    Policy of Metering & Method of Charging:- Water tax is generally charged on the basis of individual house connection recording the volume of water consumed or on the bans of the certain fixed monthly rate. In the 2nd case water consumption is more.
